Locating and Modifying the Domain (Transfer) Secret/Authorization Code for a Domain Name (except .EU, .UK, .CC, .TV, .WEB.IN)

All Domains (except a .EU, .UK, .CC, .TV and .WEB.IN) have a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code associated with them. This would be required if you want to have such a domain name Transferred.

WebHostServ.com provides you with the unique facility of modifying your Domain (Transfer) Secret for each domain name. You can thus have a Domain (Transfer) Secret of your choice for each domain name.

To View / Modify a Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code

  1. Login to your Control Panel, search for the domain name whose Domain Secret you wish to modify and proceed to the Order Details view. 1

    • Viewing the Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code: The Domain Secret field in the Order Information section will have a link to view your Domain Secret over a secure (SSL) connection. Clicking this link will open a new window where the current Domain (Transfer) Secret will be displayed.

    • Modifying the Domain (Transfer) Secret Key/Authorization Code: Click the Domain Secret link above the Order Information section. In the resulting page, provide a Domain (Transfer) Secret of your choice in the New Domain Secret textbox and click Continue to save the change.

Note
  • While modifying the Domain Secret of .COM, .NET, .NAME domain names, the following rules apply:

    • The length of the Domain Secret can be from 8 to 32 characters only

    • The Domain Secret must contain 1 alphabet, 1 number as well as 1 special character.

  • The Domain Secret should ideally consist of alphanumeric as well as special characters like the ones mentioned below:

    • A -Z and a - z

    • 0 - 9

    • ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~

However certain Domains do not support usage of special characters in the Domain Secret:

      <#start dotname#>
    • .WS: < > & '

  • In case of a .COM, .NET, .WS domain name, the Domain Secret field may have a link to set a Domain (Transfer) Secret (instead of a link to view the current Domain (Transfer) Secret). Follow the below mentioned process to set a Domain (Transfer) Secret for such domain names:

    1. Click the Click here to create Domain Secret link in the Domain Secret field.

    2. In the next page, provide a Domain (Transfer) Secret of your choice in the New Domain Secret textbox and click Continue to save the change.

    3. Once a domain name having an associated Domain (Transfer) Secret is Transferred to WebHostServ.com from another Registrar, a new Domain (Transfer) Secret is set for such a domain name. This process is implemented from a security perspective.
